A client wants to automate an inspection protocol to document the condition of drill pipe assets over time. Drill pipe is inspected for galling, pitting near connection and evidence of excessive torque as well as anomalous defects.

We developed a system that uses a robotic arm to capture 3D data, convert point-cloud data into mesh objects that are compared against an exemplar CAD object for measurement.
